Tommy

We've landed in Chicago, once again!

Q.U: What do you like about where you grew up?
T: The culture and the food, were some of the things that I loved about where I grew up. I also loved going to the downtown area with my friends and just chilling, that's about it.

Q.U: Tell us about a typical day in high school, when things where still normal.
T: I would wake up at 7 and have breakfast, and walk to school, reached the school in like 15 minutes. I got there like 8:30, while school started at around 7 o'clock. I missed first period and half of the second period. I didn't like sleeping late, it just happened. My school was a walking distance so I didn't have to drive or anything.

Q.U: How connected are you to your environment?
T: I mean I'm in the house most of the time, even before Corona, I didn't really like going outside. I mean I do care about the environment, I do pick up some garbage and stuff, but not much. There's a lot of garbage in the street, somebody's always gonna throw something away and one thing I hate is cleaning up after people.

Q.U How often do you use social media?
T: All the time. No, it does not distract me from my studies. I mostly use it for entertainment, but sometimes I’m like 'damn, I wish had that', when people show off nice things. It doesn't change how I think about my body or my life. Uh-huh. I mean there's some stuff that I don't have but it doesn't make me feel bad because I don't have them, you know.

Q.U What is special about your name?
T: There you go, well, my name is not Tommy but that is what my friends call me. I don't think there's anything special about it. There's no story- I was just given the name. -laughs- My real is not actually Tommy. That is only for the internet, because not everybody has to know my name.

Q.U: What us your favorite dish and is it connected to your nationality?
T: (Not to be stereotypical) but I love chicken. It’s so good! laughs- I mean, omg chicken is good, like...what else can I say about it? I don't even understand why it's so good. I COULD EAT IT FRIED TOO, POPEYES. UH-HUH!

Q.U: Can you imagine yourself living in the opposite part of the world? What do you think you would be up to right now?
T: If I was in the UK for example- I’d be the same. This is who I will always be, of course if I grew up somewhere I would have different traits, but I would always be me. I would be somebody slightly different, but I would still be me.

Q.U: What is the last thing you bought today?
T: A sweater. The last thing I bought today was a sweater. I gotta have new stuff, I like to look good. Trends are not my thing, I like to look good. Gotta have fun!

Q.U: What type of music do you listen to? Also, give your current top three.
T: I mostly listen to Hip Hop, RNB and Old School. Top three songs right now would be Kasey Talk by YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Poison by Brent Faiyaz and Walk Em Down by G Herbo.

Q.U: Do you think that one day people will just be people, that we will look past race and skin color and live peacefully together?
T: No, uh-huh. Cause it's just all the people who are racist will teach it to their kids and it will just go on forever.

Q.U: Can you think of something that you are not sure about but would have done if you had the chance to?
T: So, when I was younger I had a whole bunch of hair and I hated getting it braided so I wanted to get my hair cut. I went to the barber and they cut my hair. I regretted that. I don't think that I will be able to regrow it like that- I had a lot of hair. So I regret that.
Q.U: About your career, do you already have in mind what you want to do or are you just getting by?
T: Right now I'm just getting by, I'm in the army because I just got out of high school and it was like 'let me do something'. And that was what was offered to me first, so I just went with it. I'm home right now. The army really sucks..

Q.U: What can be said about you based on your style?
T: I'm very creative with what I wear- people will be like 'he kind of weird', because sometimes I go all out with my creativity.

Q.U: When did you get your first phone? Do you remember what it was?
T: Yea. I got it on the calendar actually, but I don't really remember what phone it was. I just know it was a flip phone, maybe a Motorola. I got it in 2009, I think. I don't think the phone really worked, I think they just gave it to me. And I took so many pictures, I wish I had those pictures too.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF: I have a lot of fun facts. I can flip and I can dance- mostly hip hop, footwork, hip roll and so on. They play a lot of African music at the skating rink, so I dance to that too. I speak one language- English- and I'm very good at it *laughs*
Thoughts on sexuality: Everybody can be themselves.

Thank you for reading, I have been so caught up with school that I neglected the project but I have a goal to reach and I will try my best to make sure that the goal is reached within that given time. Stay tuned for the next interview, and possibly a normal article on something that has been giving me sleepless nights.
love, Queen!
